Domestic Dispute Leaves One Dead in Breckinridge County

A domestic argument left one dead and another injured in Breckinridge County. On October 20, 2021 around 6:52 a.m. CT, Kentucky State Police was notified by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in investigating a shooting that had occured at a residence near the 2000 block of Lonnie Haynes Road in Breckinridge County.

When troopers arrived on scene, they discovered Dennis Devers deceased outside of the residence. The preliminary investigation revealed that during a domestic argument, Amanda Devers had shot her husband multiple times. Amanda Devers had a single gunshot wound after she accidentally shot herself in the foot. She was transported to Baptist Health Hardin for treatment and was later released. She was charged with murder and lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing by KSP Post 4 Detective Bryan Washer.

Red River Waste Solutions Files for Bankruptcy

The company contracted for Hardin County’s residential waste has filed for bankruptcy. “We are aware that Red River has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. We are monitoring the situation to see what that means for Hardin County. At this time, we’ve seen no service interruption. Based upon what little we know at this point, we do not expect any immediate concerns regarding pickup,” stated Hardin County Deputy Judge Executive Daniel London. The case went before the U.S. Court of Bankruptcy in Texas last week. “We are continuing to monitor and stay in contact with company officials to make sure we are not caught off guard by any actions, and we are undergoing contingency planning just to ensure that there is no disruption, or minimal disruption.”

No other details have been released at this time.

Baptist Health Hardin to Offer Sports Injury Clinic

Baptist Health Hardin is now offering a Saturday morning Sports Injury Clinic beginning tomorrow. The clinic will be open to high school athletes with sports-related injuries. No appointment is necessary. The clinic opens at 7:30, and all patients must be signed in by 8:30. Glendale Crossing Festival Comes to Town Tomorrow

The 43rd annual Glendale Crossing Festival is happening tomorrow.

“We have at least 500 arts and crafts booths across the community. From the proceeds of the festival this year, we were fortunate enough to be able to donate $5,000 to East Hardin Middle School’s new location. It is just a boost to the community but a boost to our economy,” stated Mike Bell, a Founder and Treasurer of this festival. 

Events will begin at 8 a.m. and the Great Crossing Festival Parade will start at 10 a.m.

Hardin County Animal Shelter in Need of Donations

The Hardin County Animal Shelter is in need of several items including peanut butter and pumpkin.

“Peanut butter is more of a treat thing, it’s one of the little things we can do to try and keep them sound until they do find their forever home. Pumpkin helps when you have dogs that have diarrhea. If we can get any type of disposable gloves, that would be helpful. Every little bit helps,” stated Director Mike McNutt.
