    Event Overview

    The United Way of Central Kentucky is partnering with the Altec Greater Heights Committee and Pennington Properties to transform the outdoor environment at Project L.E.A.R.N., Inc.

    Throughout the week, volunteers will be working on-site to install:

    • New concrete pathways for improved accessibility.

    • Sensory tables and swings for client engagement.

    • Picnic tables for outdoor gathering and learning.

    About the Organizations

    • Project L.E.A.R.N.: Provides essential day programming for adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as specialized summer programs for middle and high school students to foster community and confidence.

    • Altec Greater Heights Committee: A team of co-op employee volunteers dedicated to local service projects, including previous courtyard and garden revitalizations across Hardin County.

    • Pennington Properties: Local donor and volunteer partner for this initiative.


    Purpose: To create a more engaging, accessible, and meaningful outdoor space for the clients of Project L.E.A.R.N. to learn and connect.

    • Educational Classes: Learn about Prescribed Burns for Habitat Development and Pollinator Pocket Gardens.

    • Interactive Booths: Discover native bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and how pollinators protect our food supply.

    • Hands-on Fun: Make beeswax lip balm, visit the "Pollinator Selfie Booth," and play games.

    • Shop Local: Native plants, pollinator merchandise, and food trucks will be on-site.

      Note: There is no ATM on-site; please plan accordingly.
