Two farms from Meade County are receiving recognition from Kentucky Farm Bureau.
Kentucky Farm Bureau has named J.T. Barger Farm in Brandenburg and Bickett Farm in Vine Grove as Legacy Farms, recognizing “their long-standing commitment to farming, contributions to the local community, and involvement in KFB.”
According to KFB, each County Farm Bureau can nominate three local farms for the honor each year. The Legacy Farm designation is “awarded to farmers who have demonstrated a commitment to agriculture and the strengthening of rural communities.”
Meade County Farm Bureau says J.T. Barger Farm has been active in production agriculture for 71 years, raising cattle, hay, corn, soybeans, wheat, tobacco, and draft horses. The farm is run by J.T. and Eleanor Barger.
Bickett Farm has been active in production agriculture for 77 years, producing beef cattle, corn, wheat, tobacco, and hay. The farm is run by Ed Bickett.
