A second person has been charged in connection with the Hardinsburg shooting reported on October 17, 2026.
On October 19, Derek Quiggins, 35, of Hardinsburg, was charged with complicity to murder.
On October 18, Johnny Lee Sowders, 39, of Hardinsburg, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Breckinridge County Dispatch contacted Post 4 at 6:30 p.m. CST on Saturday, October 17, about a shooting at 2944 KY 79 in the Hardinsburg community. The victim, Jerry M. McGee, 51, of Hardinsburg, sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died and was pronounced deceased by the Jefferson County Coroner.
The investigation remains active. No additional information will be released at this time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
