A nearby state park campground is set to partially reopen Friday after being closed more than a year due to flood damage.
The phased reopening of the Green River Lake State Park Campground begins July 31, with approximately 73 primitive and self-contained camping sites available for booking.
Kentucky State Parks says the campground suffered major infrastructure damage following historic rainfall and flooding in 2025 that left much of the park under water for several weeks. Once the water receded, an assessment of the property found the campground’s entire electrical system needed to be replaced.
The campground will remain open through the end of the season on October 31. Restoration and infrastructure projects are scheduled to begin on November 1 to prepare the campground for a full reopening in spring of 2027. Following the restoration work, the campground will offer upgraded electrical service, campsite improvements, and better drainage.
The park still plans to host their Halloween in the park event this October. Campsite reservations can be made through ReserveAmerica, and more information is available at parks.ky.gov.
