City of E’town Collecting Bottled Water

The City of Elizabethtown is collecting bottled water beginning today at 3 p.m.

Cases of water can be dropped off at the trailer parked beside the basketball courts at the Pritchard Community Center. 

Radcliff City Hall and Vine Grove City Hall will also have donation sites collecting bottled water beginning on Monday morning.

Water will be delivered to those in Bowling Green affected by the tornado.

Severe Damage Over The Weekend Throughout Kentucky

Throughout the night and early into Saturday morning,  tornadoes touched down throughout the state. 

“The storms that were coming through were rolling. The tornado that hit Madisonville actually went over the top of the Vine grove area around 1:30 this morning,” stated Hardin County Chief Emergency Services Officer Bryce Shumate. While Hardin County suffered minor damage due to high wind speeds, tornadoes damaged more than a dozen counties throughout the state. “The primary tornado was on the ground continuously  for over 200 miles in our state, something we have never seen before,” noted Governor Andy Beshear. This is believed to be the most severe tornado event in the commonwealth.

Police Officer Involved Shooting in E’town

 Around 9 a.m. this morning, an investigation by Elizabethtown Police Department occurred in the 200 block of Wingfield Court involving a suspicious person. The subject became violent and an altercation ensued. A police officer discharged his firearm at the suspect and the suspect was pronounced deceased on the scene. The officer sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The investigation is now ongoing by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team.

Fatal Shooting in Elizabethtown

Kentucky State Police are investigating an Elizabethtown Police Officer-involved shooting.

“Shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, one of our officers was at a resident on Pleasant View Drive as a result of a criminal investigation. The officer at the residence discharged his firearm and the suspect was struck,” stated Public Information Officer Chris Denham. The male suspect was later pronounced deceased. No other information has been released at this time.
