On Monday, November 15th, 2021 at 11 p.m., Nelson County Deputy Winans observed a black GMC Terrain traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 245. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the vehicle.
The operator of the vehicle, 42-year old Shane Lowell of Loretto, Kentucky, was asked to step out of the vehicle and k9 Turbo was deployed, and several items were located including multiple different drugs, 2 pistols, drug paraphernalia, and a large sum of cash.
Lowell was lodged in the Nelson County Jail for the following charges: Speeding 26 or More over the limit, Failure to notify Address change to Department of Transportation, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Opiates, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Hallucinogen, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Drug unspecified, Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Cocaine, Persistent Felony Offender 2nd and a Failure to Appear Warrant.
