Trump nominates Amy Coney Barrett as SCOTUS nominee

President Trump announced Amy Coney Barrett as his Supreme Court nominee this weekend.

Barrett served on the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Seventh circuit, a position Trump nominated her to in 2017. Barrett clerked for late Justice Antonin Scalia. Barrett had been on the president’s short list for several year, being mentioned back in 2018 when Trump eventually nominated Brett Kavanaugh. Barrett will potentially replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who died over a week ago at the age of 87.
