WEST POINT INDEPENDENT WILL OPEN ON SCHEDULE NEXT MONTH.THE BOARD OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY EVENING THAT THE DISTRICT WOULD HAVE ENOUGH TEACHERS TO OPEN ON AUGUST 20TH. THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS SCHEDULED TO AUDIT THE DISTRICT JULY 29TH.

FREQUENT EASTBOUND DRIVERS ON THE BLUEGRASS PARKWAY WILL HAVE TO USE A NEW ROUTE. EASTBOUND LANES NEAR BARDSTOWN, SPECIFICALLY BETWEEN THE EXITS OF 31E AND U.S. 150, WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION.

A HARDIN COUNTY MAN WHO WAS SHOT AFTER ALLEGEDLY FLEEING A TRAFFIC STOP HAS FILED SUIT AGAINST THE DEPUTY WHO SHOT HIM. ACCORDING TO THE LAWSUIT, RONALD CHOWNING CLAIMS THAT HARDIN COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY HENRY VOLENTINE ENGAGED IN UNREASONABLE AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WHEN HE FIRED HIS WEAPON AT CHOWNING LAST JULY, STRIKING HIM IN THE SHOULDER. HARDIN COUNTY SHERIFF JOHN WARD IS ALSO NAMED IN THE SUIT. THE DOCUMENT WAS FILED EARLIER THIS WEEK.

PRICELESS FOODS GROCERY STORE WILL BE OPENING IN RADCLIFF, REPLACING A RECENTLY CLOSED DOWN SAVE-A-LOT. THE OPENING DATE OF THE STORE IS PROJECTED TO BE TOWARDS THE END OF AUGUST.

THE HARDIN MEMORIAL HEALTH AUXILIARY WILL BE HOSTING A FIVE DOLLAR JEWELRY SALE STARTING TODAY. THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN AUDITORIUM 5A AT HARDIN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, BEGINNING AT 8 PM TONIGHT, AND RUNNING AROUND THE CLOCK UNTIL TWO PM ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
