The victim of a shooting that took place at a Radcliff Wal-Mart on Monday has been identified. Hardin County Coroner Dr. William Lee revealed the man to be Cornelius Tory, 20, of Vine Grove. As previously reported, Tory was killed Monday night by Kendall Lincoln, who shot him eight times with a .45 caliber handgun. Lincoln is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

A fatal collision and its clearing and reconstruction closed KY 220 and Deckard School Road in Hardin County for over two hours yesterday afternoon. Deputies with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident. Sheriff John Ward reports that there were three vehicles involved. A male driver was transported to University of Louisville Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A female driver was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital, and then the University of Louisville Hospital with her injuries, and a third driver was not injured. Names of those involved have not been released pending family notification.

Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky held a special groundbreaking ceremony yesterday afternoon for Presbyterian Homes Helmwood in Elizabethtown. The new addition will be called the Elizabeth Sanford Swope Personal Care Unit, and will feature seventeen private units, an open concept community gathering area and more. The facility is located at 106 Diecks Drive.

The City of Vine Grove will be kicking off a three day Christmas celebration with a chili supper and auction tonight. The event will be held in the Community Room at City Hall from 5 PM to 8 PM. Other events include Light Up Downtown and Dickens of a Christmas on Friday night. The Vine Grove Women’s Club will host a breakfast with Mrs. Claus on Saturday morning from 9 AM to noon at Vine Grove Elementary school.

The Central Kentucky Rods and Machines Car Club held their 34th Annual Christmas for the Kids Car Show over the Thanksgiving weekend. The money collected over the three day event will go towards Christmas shopping for kids in need. The club is in need of shopping helpers for their shopping trip happening tomorrow. Radcliff Police have identified the shooter in the death investigation that stemmed from a shooting at Wal-Mart Monday night. According to arrest citations, Kendall Lincoln of Elizabethtown allegedly shot the victim eight times with a .45 caliber handgun. Later, Lincoln admitted to stealing the victims handgun and promethazine after shooting him. The victim died as a result of the shooting, and Lincoln is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

Fort Knox has been selected to host one of the Army’s new talent management initiatives called the Battalion Commander Assessment Program. The assessment will utilize a five day series of tests measuring physical and mental fitness for command and potential. The assessment is expected to bring around 800 army officers to the post over a five-to-six week period throughout January and February.

Magnolia Bank has surprised several local non-profit organizations with monetary donations. Six non-profits were up for vote for patrons of Magnolia Bank, and $10,000 was distributed based on the vote results. The six non-profits were the Community Health Clinic, Helping Hand of Hope, Mission Hope for Kids, Warm Blessings, the Kelly Dean Sanders Memorial Fund, and Shepherd’s Pie. The donations were made in honor of the 100th birthday of Magnolia Bank.

A death investigation is underway after Radcliff Police responded to a call of shots fired at a Walmart around 10 o’clock Monday night. According to Captain Willie Wells, the body of an adult male was found when officers arrived on scene. No details as to the man’s identity have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Brandenburg Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in a robbery that took place at the Valero at 1200 Bypass Road. The subject entered the store around 5 AM Monday morning, dressed in all black and a ski mask. The subject was carrying a rifle and demanded cash and the clerk’s purse. They then left in a dark blue four-door vehicle, possibly a Kia Optima, and fled down Old State Road towards the high school. Police say not to make contact with the subject, as they are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should contact Brandenburg Police or Meade County Dispatch.

Nolin RECC announced yesterday that it will be retiring $2.4 million in capital credits. These credits are what is left over after expenses are paid and repairs from major outages and upticks in new construction projects are covered. These funds will be given to Nolin members. Members who received a capital credit allocation during 1990 or 2018 can expect to receive a bill credit or check in the mail in December or January. Members do not need to contact Nolin to receive their credit, but those responsible for a deceased member’s estate should call the RECC office.

The historic season of the North Hardin Trojans Football team came to an end over the weekend, but there is a lot of pride surrounding the team. Head coach Brent Thompson says the team was the first to go 10-0, and that the young men on the team have given them a lot to look forward to building on in the future. The Trojans were defeated in the state semifinals by the Trinity Shamrocks last Friday night.

Vine Grove’s annual Christmas Celebration will start this weekend. An auction will kick off the events on Thursday, but Friday night will be the largest event as they combine their Dickens of a Christmas with Light Up Downtown. The event will start at 5:30 PM and run until around 7. Mayor Pam Ogden says the event will be held no matter the weather.

The Elizabethtown and Glendale Fire Departments took part in a water rescue over the weekend, which was needed due to flooding from rain. According to Elizabethtown Deputy Fire Chief Everett Roberts, a truck with one adult man and three children was trapped by high water and wedged against a rock. The truck was close enough to the bank that the children were able to leap to safety, but the man escaped to the roof of the vehicle to wait until help arrived. All trapped occupants were rescued successfully, and were unharmed.

New 18th District Representative Samara Heavrin is scheduled to take the oath of office today. As previously reported, Heavrin won the position vacated by Tim Moore in the November 5th election, defeating Democrat Becky Miller.

Events in Elizabethtown were changed or cancelled over the weekend due to the weather. The reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by Mayor Jeff Gregory and area children and the lighting of the tree was changed from Saturday to Sunday night. All the indoor events were held as scheduled, while the parade had to be cancelled. As of right now, there are no plans to reschedule the parade.

A Radcliff man was arrested last Saturday after attempting to burn his ex-girlfriend’s apartment down. According to a press release from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported that William Vanover of Radcliff made threats through text messages, saying he would burn her apartment down while she was at work. When deputies arrived on scene, the door was kicked in, and there were blankets on the floor that someone had attempted to ignite. Vanover was at the scene when police arrived, but refused to give a statement. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, arson, and multiple counts of wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame Classic will be held on Saturday, December 7th. It will be a full day of boys and girls high school basketball action, starting at 2 PM at two local high schools. The Boys’ teams will be playing at Central Hardin High School while the Girls’ teams will be at Elizabethtown High School. Tickets are only $10 for the day at both locations and can be purchased at the schools or at the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame Museum.

Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky has announced a groundbreaking ceremony at Presbyterian Homes Helmwood set for Wednesday, December 4th. This event will celebrate the addition of the only not-for-profit personal care facility within thirty miles of Elizabethtown. This addition will create seventeen personal care and housing units for seniors who want to keep an independent lifestyle, but require assistance with daily activities. The event will take place at 3 PM at 106 Diecks Drive in Elizabethtown.

A regular season basketball game for a good cause will be played this Monday as James T. Alton Middle School takes on their rivals, North Middle School. The donated proceeds from this game will go towards paying off student lunch debt. Lunch debt for srtudents has reached up to $3000 dollars.
