A friendly rivalry between salon and barbershop will serve a good purpose in the community. The Purple Rose Salon and Andy’s Barbershop will be holding the third annual No Starve November competition all month long.
Donations can be made at the salon or the barbershop. Donors can drop off items at either location, or can have them delivered.
Elizabethtown police arrested a man this week after allegedly finding someone else’s absentee ballot in his possession.
Elizabethtown Police made contact with the subject, Allen Hartford, in reference to a civil complaint. Police discovered that Hartford had an active warrant against him. While conducting a search of him, police discovered an absentee ballot on him, with police saying Hartford was unable to tell them for sure how he got it. Police delivered the ballot to the address listed, where the owner said he did not know it was missing, and that no one else was supposed to be in possession of the ballot. Hartford was arrested and charged with possession of stolen mail, a Class D felony in Kentucky.
He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
With early voting, election day voting, and a vast majority of absentee ballots in, it appears that some new faces will make up local city councils.
In Elizabethtown, Julia Springsteen looks to join the council, with all incumbents except Terry shipp winning re-election. Radcliff is expected to see 2 new members, with Toshie Murrell and Terry Owens accounting for 10.47 and 11.43 percent, respectively. And in Vine Grove, newcomers Lonnie Dennis and Selena Hudson are likely to join the council.
While the vast majority of ballots were counted and released last night, some votes will still be coming in over the next few days.
Election officials released what absentee results they had compiled up to last night.
Monday is the final day for early in-person voting before election day tomorrow. Residents in surrounding counties can go to their respective polling locations to vote early:
Residents in any of the above counties will have to bring some form if ID to the voting location.
Voting runs today from 8am to 4 pm.
