A MURDER TRIAL IS SET TO BEGIN IN HARDIN COUNTY TODAY (MONDAY). CHARLES ROBERSON JR IS SET TO GO BEFORE A JURY THIS MORNING. AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, ROBERSON WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR THE SHOOTING DEATH OF XEDRIC MCNEIL IN FEBRUARY OF LAST YEAR. ACCORDING TO ARREST RECORDS, ROBERSON AND MCNEIL GOT INTO A VERBAL ALTERCATION AT A RESIDENCE ON DIECKS DRIVE. OFFICIALS SAY THE TWO WENT OUTSIDE WHERE THE ARGUMENT CONTINUED. ROBERSON ALLEGEDLY PULLED OUT A GUN SHOOTING MCNEIL AT LEAST ONCE IN THE CHEST. POLICE SAY ROBERSON THEN CONTINUED FIRING THE WEAPON AS MCNEIL ATTEMPTED TO RUN. ROBERSON FACES MURDER AND WANTON ENDANGERMENT CHARGES.

STEPHENS WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE DRIVER OF THE OF THE TRUCK WAS NOT INJURED. THE ROADWAY WAS SHUT DOWN DURING THE INVESTIGATION.
