A new scammer has hit the Hardin County Area. Elizabethtown police say they have received calls about a potential Driveway Sealing scam. The man was last need driving a white pick-up truck and his name is Pierre O’Hara. Officials say this same man is believed to have hit the New Albany area a few weeks ago. Anyone with information should contact law enforcement.

Pierce Street in Etown is closed today (4/24) due to utility installations for the sanitary sewer upgrade project by the Engineering Department. Detours are provided.

Marking vehicle tires with chalk prior to the owners’ exceeding public parking limits was declared unconstitutional this week. Law enforcement in the 6th U.S. District, including Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee are no longer permitted to chalk vehicle tires, in an effort to monitor citizens who may exceed the parking limit. In some areas of the 6th District, tire chalking was an activity use for raising revenue, rather than improving public safety.

A Hardin County Community icon and World War 2 Veteran, Ralph Reese, passed away last Thursday Night. A memorial service is Friday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff starting at 11:30am. Burial with Military Honors follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. Visiation is from 4 to 8pm Thursday and continues at 10am at the Funeral Home.

The President has declared a major disaster in Kentucky. Federal assistance will be provided to supplement recovery efforts to those affected by storms, straight line winds, flooding, landslides, and mudslides from February 6th to March 10th. Federal Funding is also available on a cost sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for the entire commonwealth.

The Etown Mission Team recently returned from Elizabethtown, North Carolina to help with repairs after Hurricane Harvey last fall. Spokesperson David Dozer says there is a lot more work to be done there.

The Radcliff Rotary Golf Scramble was postponed until this Friday. Spokesperson Mike Enlaw says they are taking registrations until the middle of this week. Call 2707662749 to register.

U.S. Army Human Resources Command at Fort Knox is hosting its 5th annual “Raise the Bars” motorcycle ride on Thursday.

A Fort Knox Soldier Charged with assault went before a Grand Jury, Thursday. She was not indicted. Kai Waters was charged after a road rage incident in Elizabethtown in February where she stabbed the other driver.

A Hardin County Community Icon and World War 2 Veteran Ralph Reese passed away last night. (Thursday Night). Reese will truly be missed by this whole community. No funeral arrangements have been announced.

The American Red Cross is selling the Elizabethtown office. Officials say they will continue to collect blood and platelet donations at that location on West Dixie until the building is sold. The building sale was driven by continuing efforts to streamline operations to ensure the best use of donor dollars and reduce overhead costs. Officials ensure that the decision will not impact services provided in the community. The organization is looking for a new location for the local chapter office in the weeks and months ahead.

The Abraham Lincoln birthplace is open to anyone that wants to take prom picture, but there are rules and regulations when taking professional photos. Special use permit is required for commercial photographers collecting money for their service. You can receive that permit by contacting the birthplace visitors center. The gates close at 5pm, but the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek is a great alternate location for pictures.

Attorney General, Andy Beshear is calling on Governor Matt Bevin and The Labor Cabinet to rescind subpoenas recently sent to local school districts. The subpoenas seek records and the names of teachers who may have participated in “Sick Outs.” He has given them ten days to take action.

Spring clean up operations are underway in Elizabethtown. The clean up will end on April 30th.

The Kentucky Career Center along with other local groups are hosting a job fair tomorrow at the Pritchard Community Center. Be read for onsite interviews and bring a resume for the employers to have. The fair will take place from noon until 5P-m.

The community is invited to a Town Hall Meeting this evening. Major General John Evans, Commanding General of Cadet Command, Fort Knox is hostig the meeting at the PAC. The event starts at 6P-M.

Over 26-Hundred dogs have been placed with partner rescue organizations through the volunteer efforts of friends of the Hardin County Animal Shelter. An import component of rescue is transportation. The Elizabethtown Fire Department responded to reports of flames at Taco Bell, by Towne Mall this morning, just before 6am. Officials say the H VAC system’s belt caused smoke, but there was no fire on the scene. Crews left the scene just after 6:15am.

Senator Mitch McConnell will be in Grayson County Monday, April 22nd at Centre on Main at 9am central time to provide an update from Washington. He will also have a Q&A opportunity. Reservations for the McConnell visit are encouraged. Contact the Grayson County Chamber for more information.

Today is the last day to file tax returns. The Internal Revenue Service said on Friday there were 50 million taxpayers who had yet to file their taxes. Today is also the last day to pay 2018 property taxes. The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office says all unpaid property tax bills will be turned over to the County Clerk for collection.

A former Hardin County resident arrested in February on two counts of sexual abuse of a minor now has been indicted by a Hardin County Grand Jury. Joseph M. Hash will be in court tomorrow at 10am.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has announced a new community partnered program, Nelson County Lookout, a community camera initiative. The sheriff’s Office is asking county residents and business owners to share their camera locations. Law Enforcement will not view cameras remotely, but this tool will allow them to gather video evidence in a time sensitive investigation.
