Kentucky lawmakers gave the final pass to a bill that would ban most abortions once a fetal heartbeat is found. The house voted last night to enact this bill. The bill is now passed to Governor, Matt Bevin. The American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky ensures that they will be suing to block this bills implementation, because they feel like the 6 week abortion ban is unconstitutional.

A Bardstown distillery owner has been named in a FBI investigation. Marci Palleta, the founder of Preservation Distillery in Bardstown, was on the list of 50 people charged in the college admission cheating and recruitment scheme. The New York Times reports that many of these students were not aware their parents were doctoring their test scores and lying to get them into school. Federal prosecutors did not charge any students or Universities of any wrongdoings.

Elizabethtown musician Kevin Jaggers has been selected to play during the Kentucky Derby Festival. Jaggers will perform on the Waterfront in Louisville on Oaks Day at 8 P-m. Mission is a Pegasus Pin from KDF.ORG.

July first, the city of Elizabethtown will assume operations of The Historic State Theater. Director Kelsie Hall resigned. Hall and her staff have made improvements during her tenure as director. Effective July first, The City will assume all operations.

The popularity of “23 & Me” is creating interest for genealogy locally. Wendy Lowder welcomes the community to this free event, Saturday from 9am to Noon. This event is at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elizabethtown.

The man charged with shooting four people in Elizabethtown has been formally charged. 35 year old Shadrach Peeler was indicted by the Hardin County Grand Jury Thursday.

Hardin Memorial Health Medical Group has a new location in Larue County. The 145 Lincoln Drive location had a grand opening on Thursday and will be open to the public on Monday, March 4th.

The penguin plunge takes place tomorrow in Elizabethtown tomorrow at 12, noon. This event raises money for junior achievement and will be located at the Ring Road Location of bluegrass cellular.

A series of three Hardin County Bridge Projects are now complete. These projects were part of the Bridging Kentucky Program which is aimed at replacing or repairing structures in critical need of attention across the state.

An amended version of the School Safety and Resiliency Act is headed back to the Senate for consideration, as the House voted 96-3 to approve it this week. The legislation sets a state goal of providing more trained law enforcement and school counselors in schools, while also creating a statewide school security marshal and requiring more active shooter and suicide prevention training, among numerous other items.

More details have been released after a shooting in Elizabethtown late last week. Shadrack Peeler has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts attempted murder. The victims in last Thursday’s shootings have been identified as Cherie Turner, age 34, of Elizabethtown, who was found deceased in the 200 block of Warfield Drive, Subash Ghale, age 40 of Elizabethtown, who was pronounced deceased at the gas station at 600 North Miles Street, Prayash Baniya, age 31 of Elizabethtown, who was found with critical injuries inside the gas station at 600 North Miles Street, and Nadia Hamilton, age 34, of Elizabethtown, who was shot outside the gas station and then left for a nearby park to call for police assistance. Baniya is still hospitalized in stable condition, and Hamilton has been treated and released.

Kia Water, age 34 of Elizabethtown was charged with assault, 2nd degree and the victims in stable condition at University Hospital in Louisville.

John Hardin men’s basketball team remains undefeated as they won the district 17 tournament over the weekend, beating Central Hardin 63-48 for their third straight championship. They are set to visit Hart County at 8:30pm tomorrow (Tuesday, 2-26-2019). Hart County is hosting the 5th Region, Regional Tournament this week. For the Ladies, the Elizabethtown High School women’s basketball tam captured their 14th consecutive district title over the weekend. The Lady Panthers beat Central Hardin 74-38 and Whitney Hay had a game-high 20 points. They Lady Panthers find out who they play this week.

A new bakery has opened in Radcliff. The Gathering, had a grand opening over the weekend. The new location is at 728 Knocks Boulevard and is open from 7:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Saturday’s they are open from 8am until 2pm.
