At a meeting of the Elizabethtown City Council held last night, Mayor Jeff Gregory of Elizabethtown, Mayor Pam Ogden of Vine Grove, and Mayor JJ Duvall of Radcliff joined together to announce November 24th will be designated Quicksie Day in their cities. WQXE will be turning 50 years old on November 24th, and was recently recognized by Judge Executive Harry Berry, and given the honor of being named Station of the Year from the Kentucky Broadcaster’s Association.
The second reading of an ordinance relating to fees and regulations for food trucks at city events took place at the Elizabethtown City Council last night. The ordinance dictates that trucks setting up must pay a $250 fee to do so. Also noted at the meeting were exemptions that could excuse trucks from the fees, including one time set-ups. The public is invited to a special memorial event at Freeman Lake next Tuesday, November 12th at 4 PM. There will be a bench dedicated near the Lions Pavilion to Subash Ghale, who was shot and killed at the Elizabethtown T-Mart earlier this year. The event will provide refreshments and domestic violence information from Springhaven.
Fort Knox will be holding a Turkey Shoot Golf Scramble this weekend as golf season is coming to a close. The start of the event is Saturday at 10 AM. Cost is $35 for non-members and $25 for members. Registration is due by Friday, November 8th. More information can be found at knox.armymwr.com.

Hardin Memorial Health and Doctor Larry Hall have agreed to dismiss legal actions on both sides involving the sale of Hardin Memorial Hospital to Baptist Health. Doctor Hall will be dismissing his petition for rehearing for the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and HMH will be dismissing their motion to sanction frivolous appeal. The sale was first affirmed by Hardin Circuit Court in May of 2018, and then by the Kentucky Court of Appeals in October 2018.
An Elizabethtown man was arrested early Sunday morning after striking a parked car. According to arrest citations, Elizabethtown Police received the call stating the operator seemed to be under the influence. First responding officers observed a male, later identified as Michael Lyons, and a female, Rachael Boley, leaving the scene of the incident, and with a strong smell of alcohol coming from the pair. Both failed sobriety tests, and damage to the vehicle that was struck came out to over one- thousand dollars. The two were lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center, and Lyons was charged with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, and criminal mischief.
Election Day is tomorrow, November 5th, and the County Clerk’s Office is reminding those who are headed to the polls to bring proper identification, such as a driver’s license, social security card, or government ID. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 along with the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 87 in Hodgenville will be hosting a free dinner for all veterans on Wednesday, November 6th from 4 PM- 6 PM. The Legionnaires monthly meeting will follow at 6:30. The American Legion Post is located at 636 Lincoln Boulevard in Hodgenville.
