Hardin County Man Arrested on Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

36-year-old Jose Montoya-Velasquez was arrested by Kentucky State Police as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children Investigation, which began yesterday.

Montoya-Velasquez is currently charged with four counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance. He is being lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.

Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of 120 Pounds of Marijuana

A traffic stop on I-65 led to the discovery of more than 100 pounds of marijuana.

Early on Sunday morning, February 7th, Kentucky State Police Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Kia Sorento driving the wrong way on the I-65 southbound exit ramp at the 91 mile-marker. During the vehicle search, approximately 120 pounds of suspected marijuana was located. The operator of the vehicle, 47-year-old Jose Mariano Garcia of Lawrenceville, Georgia was arrested. He is being lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.

E’town Mayor Honors Bobby Jack Murphy

Yesterday, Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory proclaimed February 7th, 2022 as Bobby Jack Murphy Day. Murphy has served the community through Crusade with Children, Saint Jude and Hardin County Crime Stoppers.

To honor him, Mayor Gregory honored Murphy with a plaque and a key to the city of Elizabethtown. “The measure of a man is how you make others feel. I think everybody here will agree with me when they think of you. You’re always the same. You always have the same attitude and it’s always positive and you always make everybody feel good,” he stated.

Murphy is retiring from the radio business which he has been a part of since 1978.

Bardstown Man Charged with Murder

A Bardstown man has been arrested and charged with murder.

On Friday evening, Bardstown Police officers were dispatched to a residence on Robin Drive for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased female. Detectives later identified the deceased as the girlfriend of Richard Gray, who had fled the scene with his four male children to Mount Vernon, Illinois. Gray and all the children were located late on Friday night. Gray has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
