Woodland Elementary School in Radcliff will be closed Friday.
Hardin County Schools Community Relations Specialist John Wright says the closure comes from major work being done on Woodland Elementary’s heating and cooling system.
“Upon an inspection that was completed very late Thursday evening of some of that work and its effects on some structural aspects of the building, a structural engineer recommended that out of an abundance of caution we do not have school at Woodland Elementary on Friday, September 15,” Wright said.
The closure is only for Woodland Elementary School. All other HCS schools will be in session and on regular schedules Friday.
“We will begin the work immediately to remedy this issue, and crews will work through the weekend,” Wright said. “We will certainly update Woodland families on Sunday about the status of school on Monday.”
Wright says HCS apologizes to all Woodland Elementary families as the information did not become available until late Thursday evening. Families were contacted after 9 p.m. Thursday.
