Current Elizabethtown Governor Matt Bevin made a campaign stop in Elizabethtown Friday morning. Bevin was joined at the area Shoney’s by fellow Republican candidates including Ryan Quarles and Elizabethtown native Daniel Cameron. Bevin’s opponent, Attorney General Andy Beshear, visited Elizabethtown the week prior.
Renovations on one of Elizabethtown’s fire stations have begun. The new fire station 2 on the south side of town is now under construction. The $3.2 million project is expected to last until June of 2020.
The city of Sonora was awarded $20,000 in discretionary funds for critical pavement improvements at a presentation at Sonora City Hall on Friday. According to a release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the funds will go towards resurfacing work on Broadway Street in Sonora, which is a main passageway through the city. The improvements are expected to benefit two churches, a business, and over ten homes. The city will be responsible for doing the work, and will be reimbursed for the project by the Transportation Cabinet.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will hold a special concert on Tuesday, October 29th to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The concert will feature Latin American compositions arranged for two guitars. The concert will start at 7 PM in the Science Auditorium on the college campus. This is a free concert that is open to the public.
