An Elizabethtown man was arrested in Arizona after stealing money from multiple atm machines at the end of 2017. Officials say Casey Jenkins also took money from a company credit card. Jenkins was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, but under 1 million and held in the Hardin County Detention Center.

The Hardin County School District has two additional school resource officers. Sheriff John Ward says these officers will work to develop and nurture relationships with students and create an even greater sense of security in the schools and community. The department now has 6 deputies working in the district and ECTC campuses.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services will be hosting a transformers of child welfare summit this week. The summit will take place tomorrow from 9 am until 4 pm. More information can be found at the cabinet for health and family services website.

Central Kentucky community foundation has more than doubled the amount of local scholarships available to area students on scholarship central thanks in part to three new partnerships.

New management of the Elizabethtown sports park is set to be announced tomorrow (Wednesday). A press conference to name the firm will be held at 10:30 at the facility. As previously reported, tourism and city officials agreed to seek out a third party for the park last spring. The park cost the city approximately 1.2 million dollars to operate in 2017.

Police are investigating after reports of credit card fraud at several stores in Elizabethtown. Pictures of the suspect have been posted to EPD’s social media pages. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

A man accused of murder in Hardin County is set to appear in court today. 20-year-old Joseph Capstraw is accused of the beating death of Amber Robinson in July. Authorities say the two met in Georgia before traveling to Elizabethtown. Capstraw is set to go on trial later this year.

Kentucky driver’s licenses are changing this year. The real id enforcement requires licenses to have new security features.
The Hardin Circuit Clerk’s office is expected to have the new identifications available beginning March 25. The enforcement of the real id act begins nationwide on October 1, 2020.

2 people were arrested in connection to recent break-ins. Police say several homes were burglarized on Hawkins drive in Elizabethtown.
Grace Logsdon and Joseph Walden were charged with burglary 2nd degree and lodged in the Hardin County detention center.

The Elizabethtown heritage council has a new leader.
Stacy Reynolds. Reynolds has assumed the role after Krista levee left the position last year.

With the start of a new year, health officials are reminding the public of tips to avoid the flu. The Hardin County area has seen 4 confirmed cases of the flu this season. Lincoln trail health spokesperson Lisa thorn also reminds those with the flu to stay home.

Governor Matt Bevin will host a forum in Breckinridge county tomorrow (Tuesday). Officials announced that Bevin and several cabinet secretaries will be at the courthouse to speak with community members about economic developments and other issues impacting Kentucky. The event is one of several Bevin has hosted in recent weeks across the commonwealth. The forum will be held beginning at 2pm central time and is open to the public.

Today is the first day for Nolin RECC’s new leader. Greg lee replaces Mickey Miller who retired this month.

Whooping cough has been observed in Hardin County. The Lincoln Trail Health Department has seen a slight increase in confirmed cases of protusess, this year. Health department official Terry Bergen says that people should cover their mouth and nose when sneezing, and should always wash their hands. Bergen says the best way to prevent the illness is to get a vaccine.

Local officials have announced a final placement for Houdini the goat.
Deputy judge executive Daniel London said the goat will be at Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary in Guston. Houdini was removed from i65 after being injured in October.

The lion’s club will host their annual spaghetti dinner today (Friday).

A chemical spill shut down I-65 in Bullitt County last night. The Kentucky transportation cabinet says that a commercial vehicle carrying hazardous chemicals crashed near mile marker 111 about 6:30pm. The cleanup continued through the night and all lanes were reopened just before 1am.

Houdini the goat is one step closer to finding a permanent home. Members of the 7 person committee visited a potential site and hope to have a placement for the goat by the end of this week. As previously reported, Houdini was removed from the side of i65 in October after being injured. Donations for Houdini’s care can be made on the friends of the Hardin County animal shelter’s Facebook page.

A local organization is opening its doors to non-profits looking for funding. United way of central Kentucky will hold their annual grant training later this month.
United way of central Kentucky spokesperson Katie Kurtz. Attendance at one of the two events is required to apply for funding. Those interested in attending must rsvp. More information can be found on United Way of Central Kentucky’s website.

A student in Elizabethtown received national attention.
The artwork will be on display through January 6th.

An Elizabethtown man charged with murder was arraigned in court yesterday. As previously reported, 24-year-old Jahi Hall was taken into custody last month after a child in his care was pronounced dead.
Hall is set to appear in court again next week.
