A death investigation is underway after Radcliff Police responded to a call of shots fired at a Walmart around 10 o’clock Monday night. According to Captain Willie Wells, the body of an adult male was found when officers arrived on scene. No details as to the man’s identity have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Brandenburg Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in a robbery that took place at the Valero at 1200 Bypass Road. The subject entered the store around 5 AM Monday morning, dressed in all black and a ski mask. The subject was carrying a rifle and demanded cash and the clerk’s purse. They then left in a dark blue four-door vehicle, possibly a Kia Optima, and fled down Old State Road towards the high school. Police say not to make contact with the subject, as they are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should contact Brandenburg Police or Meade County Dispatch.

Nolin RECC announced yesterday that it will be retiring $2.4 million in capital credits. These credits are what is left over after expenses are paid and repairs from major outages and upticks in new construction projects are covered. These funds will be given to Nolin members. Members who received a capital credit allocation during 1990 or 2018 can expect to receive a bill credit or check in the mail in December or January. Members do not need to contact Nolin to receive their credit, but those responsible for a deceased member’s estate should call the RECC office.

The historic season of the North Hardin Trojans Football team came to an end over the weekend, but there is a lot of pride surrounding the team. Head coach Brent Thompson says the team was the first to go 10-0, and that the young men on the team have given them a lot to look forward to building on in the future. The Trojans were defeated in the state semifinals by the Trinity Shamrocks last Friday night.

Vine Grove’s annual Christmas Celebration will start this weekend. An auction will kick off the events on Thursday, but Friday night will be the largest event as they combine their Dickens of a Christmas with Light Up Downtown. The event will start at 5:30 PM and run until around 7. Mayor Pam Ogden says the event will be held no matter the weather.

A Radcliff man was arrested last Saturday after attempting to burn his ex-girlfriend’s apartment down. According to a press release from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported that William Vanover of Radcliff made threats through text messages, saying he would burn her apartment down while she was at work. When deputies arrived on scene, the door was kicked in, and there were blankets on the floor that someone had attempted to ignite. Vanover was at the scene when police arrived, but refused to give a statement. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, arson, and multiple counts of wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame Classic will be held on Saturday, December 7^th. It will be a full day of boys and girls high school basketball action, starting at 2 PM at two local high schools. The Boys’ teams will be playing at Central Hardin High School while the Girls’ teams will be at Elizabethtown High School. Tickets are only $10 for the day at both locations and can be purchased at the schools or at the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame Museum.

Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky has announced a groundbreaking ceremony at Presbyterian Homes Helmwood set for Wednesday, December 4^th. This event will celebrate the addition of the only not-for-profit personal care facility within thirty miles of Elizabethtown. This addition will create seventeen personal care and housing units for seniors who want to keep an independent lifestyle, but require assistance with daily activities. The event will take place at 3 PM at 106 Diecks Drive in Elizabethtown.

A regular season basketball game for a good cause will be played this Monday as James T. Alton Middle School takes on their rivals, North Middle School. The donated proceeds from this game will go towards paying off student lunch debt. Lunch debt for srtudents has reached up to $3000 dollars.

The Central Kentucky Community Foundation made an exciting announcement yesterday afternoon at the Home of Philanthropy in Elizabethtown. Mark and Sheree Nelson are giving an initial gift of $65,000 and ongoing support to the Financial Foundations Fund to help area high school financial literacy classes. All four area high schools are set to benefit from this donation. Other businesses and employers are asked to join in and help support this fund. Those wishing to give to the fund can visit ckcf4people.org.

The Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution are inviting the public to participate in their upcoming memorial to the patriots who lived in Hardin County in 1793. A six-foot tall obelisk with the names of the patriots will erected and surrounded by 250 donation bricks that the public can purchase for $125 to honor anyone. The memorial will be located at Freeman Lake Park next to the tennis courts.

Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory issued a proclamation yesterday morning, declaring this Saturday the 30^th as Small Business Saturday due to the economic impact the businesses have on Elizabethtown. The proclamation was made in the presence of several small business owners and took place in the new heritage council building at the old Cobbler’s Café.
