Virginia O’Hanlon, an 8 year old girl, wrote a letter to the editor of the New York Sun Newspaper. A Quick response was published as an unsigned editorial, on September 21, 1897. Since then, this editorial has become history’s most reprinted editorial, appearing in part or whole in dozens of languages, in books, movies and other editorials. Jim Weise, is a retired lieutenant colonel from the US army. Weise retired 8 years ago from his position as a civilian attorney assigned to the Recruiting Command. Weise served 43 years starting in 1969.
