August 11, 2019 Praise & Shine

This weeks Praise and Shine devotional about the joys of summer, sprinklers and bulldogs.

Buddy the bulldog is there ready to lap up the water and enjoy the sprinkler when it comes. There are no bulldogs in the bible yet Paul’s prayer in Ephesians is similar in a way. Paul prays that the Ephesians believers will be filled to the measure to all the fullness of God.

We can delight in a relationship with the One who alone can fill our harts and lives with love, meaning and purpose.

August 4, 2019 Praise & Shine

This week on Praise and Shine our devotional is about the loss of a dear friend and the stark reality of death and the brevity of life.

Psalm 39 says

“Show me, Lord, my life’s end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting my life is.
You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.

Life is short, our earthly life is but a drop in all of time. We can say our hope is in the Lord and trust that we have purpose.

2 Corinthians 4 says one day we will enjoy eternal life in Jesus. Let’s thank the Lord that this life is not all there is, we have eternity for all those who trust in Jesus and accept him as their savior.
