Fort Knox will be holding a virtual change of command ceremony this morning. Outgoing commander, Lieutenant Colonel John Ament, will be relinquishing command of the Third Medical Recruiting Battalion to Lieutenant Colonel Crystal Belew. The event will be live streamed on Facebook live, and will begin at 10:30 a.m.
A friendly competition between first responders takes place today in downtown Elizabethtown. It’s the second year for the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, which is being held at the Historic State Theater. The event will take place at the theater from 2-7 p.m. Appointments for donations can be made at redcrossblood.org by calling 1-800 Red Cross.
After delaying the initial date, today is Election Day in the state of Kentucky. For several weeks, voters have had the chance to vote absentee via mail-in ballots and in-person. Today will operate more like a normal election day, with one major difference: counties will have one polling location for residents. The follow are the locations for our surrounding counties:
Hardin County – Hardin County Government Building, (150 N Provident Way #314, Elizabethtown, KY 42701)
Larue County – Larue County Courthouse (209 W High St # 3, Hodgenville, KY 42748-1543)
Grayson County – The Centre on Main (425 S Main St, Leitchfield, KY 42754)
Nelson County – Nelson County Fairgrounds (2389 New Haven Rd, Bardstown, KY 40004)
Breckinridge County – Breckinridge County Fairgrounds (217 Fairgrounds Rd, Hardinsburg, KY 40143)
Meade County – Meade County High School (938 Old State Road, Brandenburg, KY 40108)
Bullitt County – Paroquet Springs Conference Centre (395 Paroquet Springs Drive, Shepherdsville, KY 40165)
Those with absentee ballots can still submit them, but they must be postmarked by today or dropped off at ballot boxes at the above locations.
