Former Master Commissioner of Bullitt County John Schmidt has been found guilty of embezzlement.
Schmidt was removed as Master Commissioner by the Bullitt Circuit Court back in 2019. Charges were originally filed back in 2020, but the hearing was not scheduled until this year. Schmidt was charged with misappropriation of $81,000 in funds from a judicial sale. Evidence shows that Schmidt altered the endorsement stamp on the checks and directed the funds to be deposited to an account that was not affiliated with the Bullitt County Master Commissioner’s Office.
Schmidt is hereby publicly reprimanded by the Judicial Conduct Commission of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
