The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding a possible car theft suspect. According to the department, a vehicle was left abandoned in the median of Bluegrass Parkway around the sixteen-mile marker on Friday. Upon officer’s arrival, there was no one around the vehicle and the driver’s side front tire was blown out. Officers ran the vehicle and it came back stolen, reportedly on December 9^th, to the Louisville Metro Police Department. No one was found walking in the immediate area. If there is any information regarding a stranded motorist that was given a ride, please contact the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

Hardin County Schools has announce their pre-school and kindergarten early registration dates for the 2020-2021 school year. The registration will be held on Friday, March 6^th, 2020 between 9 AM and 2 PM at all elementary schools except Meadow View, Radcliff, Woodland, and Vine Grove, which will take place at North Park Elementary. Children who will be five years of age on or before August 1^st, 2020 are eligible for kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. Work on the Cardinal Drive realignment project in Elizabethtown will include closing a portion of Woodland Drive behind Hardin Memorial Hospital later this week. According to the Department of Transportation, construction on the new connection at the US 31W and Diecks Drive traffic signal will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, December 18 and 19, with closure starting at approximately 8 AM on Wednesday. Traffic to the hospital emergency room will still be accessible via Cardinal Drive, as it always has been. No specific detour will be utilized for this work, and signs and message boards will be placed to identify the change to any traffic pattern.

Helping Hand of Hope will be hosting their turkey and ham giveaway tomorrow from 10 AM until 3 PM. Those picking up an item must provide a valid photo ID. There will be a limit of one per household, and there will be no choices, as all participants will be given one or the other. The giveaway is open to anyone in Hardin County while supplies last. This will be a drive through event, and items will only be given out in the parking lot, not inside.  

Two wanted individuals have been taken into custody. Michael Bayne and Kayla Boone, also known as Kayla Reynolds, who were recently featured on Hardin County Crime Stoppers, are now in custody. Boone was arrested by the Elizabethtown Police Department for receiving stolen property, assault, and fleeing or evading police, while Bayne was arrested by the Radcliff Police Department for trafficking methamphetamine. Anyone with tips regarding any current or new crimes should contact Hardin County Crime Stoppers.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information after a convenience store was robbed at gunpoint. According to a press release from Sheriff Norman Chaffins, the clerk at the Smitty City Convenience Store advised that a male subject entered the store on Tuesday night wearing a dark ski mask and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, but was still struck in the back with the weapon the suspect was carrying. The suspect fled the store with the cash in an unknown direction. Anyone with information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Elizabethtown Lions Club will be hosting their annual spaghetti dinner, one of their biggest fundraisers, tonight at Central Hardin High School from 5 PM- 8 PM. Tickets are $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for students, and kids five and under are free. The meal comes with spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, and a drink. Funds from the event will go towards eyesight preservation efforts in the community.

Saint James Catholic School in Elizabethtown announced their first tuition scholarship, established by Brian and Lindsey Alicna. The scholarship is in honor of Brian’s sister Amy, who passed away as a sixth-grader at Saint James in 1986. Conditions for the scholarship are membership at Saint James Catholic Church, and a real financial need for the assistance. Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will begin offering commercial driver’s licensing classes next year. There is already a waiting list to get into the class. The program had a tractor and trailer donated to them by Nall’s Specialized Hauling, and also will make use of a CDL simulator. The seventh annual Christmas with Kory Caudill and Friends concert will be held at First Christian Church in Elizabethtown this Saturday. The show begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets range from $13-$15 and can be purchased at the door or online at fccetown.com.
