Conference Bringing Mental Health and Law Enforcement Together Next Week In Elizabethtown

The City of Elizabethtown will host the 2023 Crisis Intervention Conference on Monday and Tuesday. “It’s in the news these days about mental illness and contacts with police. We really are trying to do our best and keep on top of current trends and best practices. There will be mental health providers, law enforcement agencies from all over the state that will attend this,” shares Hodgenville Police Chief James Richardson. Richardson serves as the Chairman of the Communicare Region Crisis Intervention Team Advisory Board. Richardson also announced that Hodgenville Police Department’s School Resource Officer Kevin Bennett has been selected as the Communicare Region CIT Officer of the Year. “We are super excited to announce that our very own school resource officer Kevin Bennett was selected as this year’s CIT Officer of the Year for the Communicare region for his work in the schools with kids in crisis. There are countless examples I could give you, but what I would say is that he works with these kids every single day. We are super excited to have him representing the Hodgenville Police Department, Larue County Schools and our Communicare region.” Officer Bennett will be presented his award during a ceremony on Tuesday at the conference.
