1 dead, 1 officer injured after wreck on Leitchfield Road Tuesday morning

One person is dead and one police officer injured after a wreck on Leitchfield Road this morning.

According to the Elizabethtown Police Department, units responded to a wreck on U.S. 62 this morning after an SUV struck a motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

The injured officer, who is not being identified at this time, was in the area after the crash occurred. She arrived on scene to render aid, only to be struck by a truck that swerved to avoid the wreck. The officer was seriously injured but did not sustain life-threatening injuries. The identity of the motorcyclist and officer have not been released. No other details are available currently. U.S. 62 is open at this time.
