An officer involved shooting took place in Breckenridge County last night. Kentucky State Police say that the incident took place around 8:30 P.M. Thursday night near the intersection of Highways 259 and 737. Officers received a call for a welfare check, and a deputy and three officers responded. The person shot has died from his injuries. No officers were injured, and no other details are available at this time.

The search is on for an escaped inmate out of Hardin County. Kentucky State Police say 22-year-old Jordan Geary of Louisville was last seen about 12:30 yesterday afternoon near the intersection of South Mulberry and Helm Street in Elizabethtown. Geary is described as a white male, 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jean shorts and no shirt. Geary had recently been transferred to Hardin County from Jefferson County on a parole violation. Anyone with any information should contact local law enforcement.

Hardin County Schools has hired a new Director of Federal Programs and Leadership Development, as Debbie Wyatt will step into the interim role. Wyatt will be helping schools receive federal funding to help student growth.

Just one day into the school year, Hardin County Schools is seeing a critical need. The district is short 20 bus drivers for this school year. District spokesperson John Wright says that while they have been able to fill the need temporarily, full-time drivers are needed. Those interested in applying can visit the Hardin County Schools website. Applicants must pass a background check and must have a clean driving record.
