Elizabethtown Community and Technical College received a large financial gift earlier this week. The college was given $50,000 from Magnolia Bank to put towards the University Center project. The University Center will help to bring more 4-year Bachelor’s degree programs to the college.

An anonymous tip to Hardin County Crime Stoppers has led to the arrest of Amanda Johnson of Buffalo. Johnson had an active arrest warrant for theft by unlawful taking. The informant will be given an anonymous cash reward for the lead. Anyone with information that could lead to arrests for crimes in their community should contact Crime Stoppers.

An unusual power outage took place in Meade County yesterday morning. What was assumed to be a routine power outage turned out to have a unique cause, as a snake was seen hanging from the transformer. After repairs were made, the power was back on in less than thirty minutes.

The Lion’s Club of Elizabethtown is hosting their annual chicken BBQ tomorrow. Attendees can get a half chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, and a drink for seven dollars. There are options for carryout and drive-thru. More information is available on the Elizabethtown Lion’s Club Facebook page.

A previously scheduled movie at the State Theater has been changed. The theater was originally supposed to show Top Gun tomorrow, but due to issues regarding rights, the feature has changed to Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. The film starts at 7PM Saturday, and tickets are only $1.
