Firefighters responded to a blaze in Elizabethtown this morning around 5:30am. Chief Deputy Everett Roberts said that their was a light/van in a bathroom of an uninhibited home and it overheaded, causing smoke. Lucky crews got to the house before any major damage occured. Crews cleared the scene just after 6am with minimal damage reported.

Tuesday’s fire at Cardinal Inn in Elizabethtown sparked citywide conversation about poverty and homelessness. The American Red Cross provided vouchers to Elizabethtown citizens who lost their possessions and shelter in the fire. The mjor concern is long term housing for displaced and homeless families and individuals.

Nolin RECC has announced the winners of the Washington Youth Tour. Central Hardin students, Mckayla Collin, Madelyn Ditto, Tanner Hess and Jacob Marin, as well as, Elizabethtown High School’s Anastasia Newsome are Juniors who were selected for the all-expense-paid trip to Washing, D.C. The trip will be June 14th through 20th.

The U.S. Army Human Resource Command at Fort Knox is hosting it’s 5th annual
“Raise the Bars” motorcycle ride on April 25th. Spokesperson James Fry says this is a great way to take things off the newspaper pages and make this awareness 3D.
